I always knew that Patagonia was more than a good sports clothing line. I had seen pictures of a region called Patagonia, a region with large glaciers, large lakes, beautiful mountain lakes, some small mountains and a few very large mountains. In short it seems like a wild and beautiful area that just beckons someone to come see for yourself and check things out. It beckoned and I just had the feeling I better answer that call. So tomorrow I am off to the southern tip of Argentina and South America. An area that is close to the southern area, on the west coast just where the tip starts angling to the right.
What am I going to do, well you know me, I will just trek around visiting different trails in that area. This trip will be a little different than previous treks, we will not be going from point to point every day, instead staying a couple of nights in several places and just do day hikes and adventures from there. That will be a little more up the comfort level chain, but each day will still just be where will my feet take me, well, maybe also a van ride to get to different starting points and then turn things over to my feet.
For some reason, I am very excited as I look forward to this trip. You might ask, don’t you look forward to all the trips? My answer is yes, but each in a different way, some from the physical challenge, some from the mental challenge, some, like this one, just from an enjoyment challenge. I have loved every trek I have taken, but each in a different way. This one is just for pure pleasure, I don’t think I am challenging myself anything other than go and just do it! Have fun David…..
I better get to packing, I have my first major conundrum, I go through 4 plane flights tomorrow, so I was planning to carry on both my backpack and a small suitcase. (I just have a large question mark or a small doubt if a checked bag can make 4 flights on 2 different airlines.) Problem is, TSA technically doesn’t allow hiking poles in carry on luggage and they have to go attached to my backpack if I carry them, so there is no way to hide the poles in a suitcase, because they don’t fit in a 22″ suitcase, even when collapsed. Oh the travel problems we have or perceive for ourselves. One thing I know, all will work out.
I will post tomorrow during the travel and let you know how the start of the trip is going.
