Well the travel day is behind me. I started Saturday morning from Amarillo, but it really started Friday night after Sherry and I got back from a Tech Distinguished Alumni function on Friday evening. I got back, went to the office and caught up on some final things, then went home to pack. Have I mentioned that many times I put off packing till the last moment. At about 3am, I thought I had the packing under control, only problem was I still had to get some rest before a 6:40 flight. So it was a 45 minute power nap, up to shower, then a final run through the packing, throw it all in a bag, then off to the airport. Arrived at the Amarillo airport at 6am, just right to barely make it and not having to spend extra time waiting. Those who know me know I never get to an airport way too early, maybe a little late, but never too early.
To all intrepid travelers, my one advice is don’t start a trip sleep deprived. I am still paying for Friday night. Maybe I will get a good night’s sleep here in a bit.
The flight was a hard way to get here with four separate flights. Thankfully all flights were on time and connections were fairly easy. Once I deplaned in Geneva Switzerland, I got my luggage, exited to the arrival hall and my 2 guides for the trip were there meeting the ones in our group coming in today. One guide took another trekker and I on the shuttle from Geneva to Chamonix France, our starting point. I was glad to get here, but zapped by the lack of rest. I finally got a room and grabbed 3 hours sleep. Boy did that help.
Chamonix is a very nice mountain town and is the starting point for this trek and also, the starting point for the mountaineers climbing in the region. Think of a village in the alps and this town is exactly that thought.
After a good dinner with the group I will be with for awhile, I am back in the room and fixing to resort my packing. Have any of y’all ever seen a suitcase explode when opened, mine looked like it had! It definitely needs to be reworked. After that, sleep……..😎
I am excited to be here, but more excited that you are getting to share my thoughts and actions with this blog. I always think I don’t want to commit to blogging, but once I start, I love sharing. Sometimes my sharing is good, sometimes bad, sometimes boring, but all times opening my life up more than I would in a normal conversation.
Psalm 19:14

Excited to read all about it!! Many prayers for a wonderful journey😊
