I just wanted to post a short hello again and here I go again! Currently I am late packing and putting on the finishing touches for a trip to France/Italy/Switzerland for a trek in the Mt. Blanc region of the European Alps. This will be a great and fun trip for me, most know I broke my fibula and tore up a right knee last Thanksgiving and this is my big test to make sure all the parts are working properly again.
But more than a test, I am just relaxed to get a two week break to go do something God and Sherry support me in doing and that I love doing. Hiking or trekking gives me the ability to push my body, clear my mind and just commune with God in nature. I know, it sounds like I run around in a white robe, but it is more like an orange tech shirt soaked with sweat, a backpack and a very used and dusty pair of hiking boots. My kind of fun.
This trek is by no means an easy vacation, I will get 100 miles of mountain trekking in 10 days over the next couple of weeks. But more than that, there will be over 30,000′ of elevation gain (and loss) during those days. It seems like each day over there starts in a valley, treks to a mountain pass and then down to another valley. In Colorado, when I approach 3,000′ elevation gain in a day hike, I am about cooked, so this will be a real test of the strength in the legs. Also in regards to this trek, all the blogs and other literature on this trek talk about the good food, we will have to see about that as I am sure I will test that part every day……
I will be traveling today, in about 6 hours and Sunday will be in my starting point of Chamonix France. Hopefully once there, I will be able to post another update.
Thanks for checking in!
