Tonight, I find myself sitting in the food court of Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. This is truly a world class airport and as nice as any I have travelled through. I am truly amazed at how accessible the world is today. Just less than 24 hours ago, I was living my normal life in what we view as normal Texas. Now I am in a mix of people and cultures in what we all view as a part of the world where we don’t necessarily plan on traveling. The people here in the airport are just like ants moving to their ultimate destination and other than dress and complexion, we are all the same. Businessmen, families, tourists and just normal people doing the same thing we do everyday, but speaking a different languages. God truly has made an amazing world we live in during these times.
My flight to here was good, it just lasted a little over 14 hours and I was able to sleep for a good amount of that time. Now I have a 10 hour layover and another 5 hour flight to go before my travel is complete. That 5 hour flight leaves here at 3:15am, so I get to see this airport in the busy and slow times. I am trying to decide what this travel is doing to my internal clock. Right know it is after 6pm here and just 10am back at home. Here, we just had the Muslim call to prayer in the airport and back home our Church is deep into studying God’s word. I am tired, but not too bad. I hope that once I am in Nepal, my time system hits the ground running.
I am still a little in awe that I am making this trek. It just seemed a distant desire not that long ago and now, all the sudden, I am on this venture with you. I look forward to trying to share this adventure with you as I keep taking steps one at a time. I miss my family and friends and I know that feeling will get worse, but they all know I love them.Well time to grab a bite to eat, watch the dust blow here in Qatar and prepare for the next leg of my travels.
Psalm 18:36
I love you
Proud of your courage to go out into a new world.
