Another acclimation day in Dingboche. After a quick breakfast, we headed out to the “hill” behind the Good Luck Teahouse and started straight up to 15,000′. This hiking upwards and coming back down on the acclimation days helps prepare the heart and lungs for higher altitudes. I am not sure it helps the legs, it seems I have only a limited number of upward steps in me. But I will keep going and hopefully with God’s strength keep persevering. I can tell you it is definitely not my strength pushing me upwards. I love the trekking, the people and the views.
After the day hike up and down, we ate a very good lunch. The menus here have a good selection of choices. The only warning is no meat this high as there is no refrigeration past Lukla. The staples are rice, eggs, soups, and noodles. I have had dah blat several times. That is a local Sherpa dish of white rice, lental soup and a cooked veggie. The appetite is slowing down a bunch, I can usually eat about half my breakfast and lunch, but by dinner, the body is slowing down and it is a strugggle to find the strength to just pickup the food, much less chew it.
After lunch, I wrote one page of the blog and I am still behind on this one. After that, I just took a nap till dinner. I don’t know when this page will be posted as Wi-Fi is very sketchy the higher we get.
Thanks for following my travels.
